In order to get rid of stomach fat you will need to think about losing fat from all parts of your body. Even though there are a lot of people that will tell you that cardio exercise won’t get rid of abdominal fat, the truth is they are right. I say this because cardio exercise “alone” won’t get rid of lower belly fat, but when used in conjunction with some other abdominal exercises it plays a key role. Cardio exercise is one of the best ways to burn calories and also stimulate the metabolism which then kicks off the fat burning process in your body.
When introducing abdominal exercise into your training routine, you will have to be careful not to focus entirely on just that area. By working too much on the abdominal area you will be building up the abdominal muscles, not actually burning that lower belly fat. Abdominal fat is actually stored on top of the abdominal muscles so by building these muscles you may look like you are getting a bigger lower belly. This is where your cardiovascular training plays its part by burning calories which in turn burns fat cells.
Of course any stomach weight loss routine is going to require a well balanced nutritional program. The key here is to be sensible and not start cutting out all food groups at random. This is the main reason why diets don’t work over prolonged periods of time, by cutting out all the foods that you enjoy you will be cutting down your chances of success. The thing to do here is to simply start by reducing “not cutting out” the foods with the most fat content. At the end of the day this is an entire topic on its own and will write about this in more detail in another article, thing to remember is to develop a nutritional lifestyle and not a “DIET”.
As we have talked about so far, a big key to get rid of stomach fat is to start a good exercise routine. It is this exercise that will ultimately be responsible for your stomach weight loss by reducing the fat levels all around your body including your waist.
When starting to exercise, the point to remember is to start of slow and build up the intensity slowly. Too many people start off to quickly and then quit just as fast as they started by simply burning themselves out. This is especially true if you have not exercised for some time, and an important point to remember is that it can also be dangerous.
A good place to start is by simply going for a good half hour brisk walk. This will get most people’s heart rate close to the level where they will start to burn fat. Before starting out I highly recommend that you find out what your maximum heart rate should be for your body type and weight. You should aim for around 60 to 70% of your maximum heart rate for about 30-40 minutes at first.
The key to remember here is to slowly increase to 70-80% of your maximum heart rate and increase the amount of time at this heart rate to around 40-50 minutes then you can spend 10 minutes or so winding down.
By practicing your routine on a daily basis and sticking to a healthy eating plan you will greatly increase your chances to get rid of stomach fat for ever!
